Methodology

Transparency note: every number on this site comes from a public, primary source, and every interpretation is clearly tagged. Here is exactly how the data is collected, processed and presented — including the parts that are AI-generated.

Primary data sources

  • Schumann Resonance spectrogram Tomsk State University SOSRFF station (Russia), refreshed every minute. We mirror the latest frame to our VPS to reduce load on the upstream and to keep the site fast under heavy traffic.
  • Cumiana Schumann monitor Cumiana, Italy — a second independent monitoring station. Cross-checking two stations helps distinguish global Schumann events from local interference at one site.
  • Kp-index, X-ray flux, solar wind, aurora forecast NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center public JSON feeds. Updated every 1 to 5 minutes depending on the product.
  • Solar imagery (SUVI) NOAA GOES-16/18 SUVI — extreme-ultraviolet snapshots of the Sun.
  • Seismic and volcanic activity — USGS earthquake feed and Smithsonian volcano list, surfaced for context, not as a Schumann driver.

We do not run our own physical Schumann magnetometer. Every spectrogram on the site is upstream-sourced and credited.

The Energy Score (0–100)

The "Energy" indicator on the homepage and on each daily insight is a simple weighted composite, designed to summarise the day's electromagnetic state in a single legible number:

  • 40% NOAA Kp-index (rescaled to 0–100)
  • 30% X-ray flux long-channel (log-scaled, A→X mapped to 0–100)
  • 30% Schumann spectrogram amplitude deviation from the rolling 24-hour baseline (pixel-analysis intensity score from the Tomsk frame, 0–10 mapped to 0–100)

Banded labels:

  • Calm — 0 to 30
  • Balanced — 30 to 60
  • Active — 60 to 80
  • Storm — 80 to 100

The Energy Score is a presentational shorthand, not a physical measurement. It correlates with NOAA Kp by design (~r = 0.62 across the published archive) and is most useful for comparing day-to-day context, not for absolute claims.

How daily insights are written

Each daily insight is generated by an automated pipeline that runs every 6 hours (00:05, 06:05, 12:05, 18:05 UTC):

  1. Pull the latest Tomsk spectrogram and run a pixel-intensity analysis to derive a 0–10 amplitude score.
  2. Fetch the latest NOAA Kp-index, X-ray flux peak, and solar-wind speed.
  3. Pass these numbers, plus the date and UTC hour, to Anthropic Claude (model: claude-sonnet-4-6) with a tightly-scoped prompt.
  4. Claude returns a JSON object with a title and a 250-word markdown analysis. The prompt enforces grounded language ("not new-age kitsch") and requires reference to the actual data values.
  5. The result is INSERTed into our database with the timestamp, the source data and a link to the spectrogram frame used.

What this means in practice: the numbers are real and traceable (you can verify any of them at NOAA or Tomsk yourself). The narrative wrapper is AI-written. We disclose this on every page so that readers can weight it accordingly. Editorial review is spot-check based — we do not pre-publish-review every entry, but we read the daily output and remove anything that strays into medical advice or unsupported claims.

Editorial policy for blog posts

  • Every claim that says "research shows" or "studies suggest" should link to the underlying paper or reputable source. Where this is missing, treat it as a bug — we are working through the back-catalog.
  • We separate three categories of claim: physics-settled (the Schumann cavity exists and resonates near 7.83 Hz), biology-contested (effects on sleep, mood, cognition — preliminary, ongoing research), and metaphysics-unsupported (mass-consciousness shifts, etc. — explicitly framed as belief, not science).
  • HeartMath / Global Coherence Initiative is a frequently-cited source. They sell related products, so we treat them as an interested party — useful but not neutral.
  • We use AI assistance for first drafts on some posts. Final edits, source-checking and the framing call are human.

Corrections policy

Spotted an error? Email hello at schumannresonance.today with the URL and the issue. We update the post inline, add a correction note at the bottom with the date and edit, and bump the dateModified field so search engines and AI crawlers re-index the corrected version.

Conflicts of interest & monetization

The site is funded by Google AdSense (programmatic display ads on long-form pages, gated on consent), Patreon supporter donations, and affiliate links on /healflux (we earn a commission on Healflux V4 device purchases). We disclose affiliate relationships in line with FTC guidance.

The site also cross-promotes the founder's own paid products — Seelenname / YourSoulName — on the homepage and in the footer. These are spiritual / numerology products, not Schumann-Resonance products, and they are clearly framed as related ventures, not endorsements of a Schumann benefit.
